Live Music in Lehigh Valley

January 4th, 2012 by Innkeeper

My husband and I recently went to Penn’s Peak in Lehighton, Pa to see the vintage rock band, Vanilla Fudge. The members are Mark Stein on keyboards, Vince Martell on guitar, Carmine Appice on drums and Pete Bremy on Bass. Pete is the only one that is not an original member. They did a remake of a Supremes song in 1967 which put them on the charts. The song is called, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On.” They are currently doing a Farewell Tour.

Lehigh Valley has an amazing array of live music venues from restored theatres to modern new facilities and great local bars. The State Theatre is a great place for entertainment. SteelStacks by Artsquest, in Bethlehem, Pa also has regular shows. Downtown Easton, PA bars with live music schedules include Pearly Bakers on Fridays, 11 Centre Square and Porter’s Pub on Fridays and Saturdays, 700 Northampton Street. The music usually starts at 10 p.m. Check out current schedules at Lehigh Valley Live. Of course you’ll want to make a weekend of it and stay the night at our Easton, PA Bed & Breakfast!

10' Douglas Fir in the Parlor
We’ve been busy decorating for Christmas and preparing for our upcoming Open House, December 19, 2011, 5:00 – 8:00 pm in celebration of the Inn’s 25th Anniversary.

Check out this great feature article about us in the Express Times.

This week Laura is busy researching the history of the house during its days as a private home, apartment building, fraternity house (Pi Lamda Phi), and the early inn days. If you’ve got picture or a story to share we’d love to hear from you!

Amazing Day in Bucks County PA

We had an amazing day yesterday wandering around Bucks County! We were invited to a private tour of Carousel Farm in Mechanicsville. This stunning farm features acres of lavender as well as lamas, Scottish highland cattle, donkeys, and horses. Their gift shop features all sorts of wonderful products made from their own lavender. The farm is open to the public Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Bring a picnic lunch and spend some time admiring the lavender fields. They also offer guided tours of the private gardens and original structures on Wednesdays at 10 am and other days by appointment for groups of 10 or more. Cost of the tour is $10 and worth every penny.

We stopped for a real treat at OWowCow (gourmet, organic, small batch ice cream!) on the way home. Yum!!!

The farm is just 2 miles from Peddler’s Village so it’s a great add-on to a day of shopping or wandering around the rest of Bucks County.

The farm is about an hour from The Lafayette Inn. The drive there is as picturesque and worthwhile as the destination.

Things to do in Easton, PA Summer 2011

May 11th, 2011 by Innkeeper

Wow, where shall I start? Of course there are all the traditional favorites: The Crayola Factory and National Canal Museum, Easton Farmers Market (longest continuously running outdoor market in the USA!), Heritage Day and walking along the Delaware and Lehigh River towpath trails. But this year there seems to be a bumper crop of new and exciting things to add to the list.

The recently opened Sigal Museum offers a look at local history. Improvements along the Delware Riverfront offer additional children’s play areas, walking access, and concert space. Also check out the truely unique Art in Urban Environments Festival and Chansonette Fringe Festival. We are truley blessed to have these special events taking place right here in Easton!

Join us for a couple of days of complete relaxation AND tons of fun too. The hanging baskets are waiting to be admired, Lena’s ready to great you, the cakes are baking and the drinks are chilled!

The State Theatre What a treasure and a pleasure!

February 28th, 2011 by Innkeeper

Every time I attend a show at The State Theatre in Easton, PA I am reminded how fortunate we are to live in this great city. We saw the ever enchanting Fab Faux on Saturday night and will be there again this Thursday for Madame Butterfly and again later this month for Avenue Q. Also contemplating tickets to the just announced David Crosby & Graham Nash show in May.

Combine a show at this stunning little gem with dinner at one of Easton’s awesome restaurants and an overnight stay at The Lafayette Inn. A great romantic getaway!
